Amaranth Bowl

This bowl is the right size for a small serving of salad or ferment.  In this case, I made a quick pickle using wild amaranth leaves, red cabbage and purple wild radish flowers. 
 
Mixed techniques – wheel and hand build using stone tools.

Glaze made with Mojave desert chalk ground by hand using my molcajete (stone grinder). Chalk is mixed with local water, mugwort beer vinegar and xantham gum to make it easier to apply with a brush.
 
Mountain dirt mixed with commercial clay.  Willow chopsticks. 

Fired at Cone 6 - 2200°F (1200°C) in my electric kiln.
