Chia Seeds Storage Vessel

Chia Seeds Storage Vessel

SKU: SKU020
$195.00Price

This is the vessel I used to store my golden chia seeds this year. We have tons of native chia on the property where my pottery studio is located, and I collected a bunch this year. I store them in this container for a couple of months to let them dry first then finally store them in closed jars.

Made from a mix of local clay and clay mined in Southern California.

Glazes made from rocks collected in the mountains and white “chalk” foraged in the Mojave desert. The rocks are slowly broken and ground by hand into a fine powder then mixed with various amounts of pinyon pine and scrub oak ashes to create different hues. Homemade white glaze inside.  The whole process is quite lengthy, and several firings are often required.

Mixed building techniques – Wheel and hand building

Fired at cone 6 (2200 °F – 1204 °C) using my electric kiln.
