Colorado Clay and Ant's Pebbles Plate
Plate made with clay foraged in Berthoud Colorado. I also added pebbles collected from local ants (see last photo). The clay was prone to cracking, adding the pebbles helps and I think it's cool that local ants contributed to the creation of that plate.
The original collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete), water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable. The ant's pebble are added (15%) and the clay is kneaded.
Fired at 2100 F using my portable electric kiln. The plate was fired twice.
Transparent and white glaze made with natural ingredients (Non-toxic). Partly glazed outside
Diameter: 5.5 inches - 14 cm
