Coyote Mint Bowl
We’re back in Duluth Minnesota, this bowl was made with clay collected on the shore of Lake Superior. My regular glaze reacts differently to that clay in a beautiful way. The bowl can be used for wild soup, serving a stew or drink some refreshing foraged mint tea.
Less impurities than other clays but you still have some interesting texture created by stones present in the unprocessed clay and the transparent glaze oozing on the inside of the bowl. The collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete) then water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable.
Mixed technique - Hand build and wheel. Glazed inside and partly glazed outside.
Fired twice at cone 03 (2014 °F – 1100 °C) using my electric kiln.
Transparent and white glaze made with natural ingredients (Non-toxic). The glazes are artistically applied with a brush.
