Juniper Plate

Medium sized plate, mostly used for a substantial side dish or wild food salad.  Beautiful texture created by the stone tools when I made it – mixed method, wheel and hand building.

Glaze made with Mojave desert chalk ground by hand using my molcajete (stone grinder). Chalk is mixed with local water, mugwort beer vinegar and xantham gum to make it easier to apply with a brush.

Clay is a mix of mountain dirt (Valyermo) and commercial clay.

Fired at Cone 6 - 2200°F (1200°C) in my electric kiln.
