Lake Superior Plate/Bowl
Medium plate/bowl made with clay collected from the shore of Lake Superior last June and around 20% clay collected from the Mojave desert floor. It’s large enough to be used as your main dish.
The stones present in the unprocessed clay are very visible inside and outside but it’s not excessive. The collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete) then water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable. Yucca cordage on the side so you can hang it in the kitchen if you want or a nearby tree branch if you’re camping.
Mixed techniques – Hand build and wheel. Glazed inside and partly glazed outside.
Fired twice at cone 03 (2014 °F – 1100 °C ) using my electric kiln.
Transparent and white glaze made with natural ingredients (Non-toxic).
Diameter: 6.25 inches – 16 cm
Height: 2 3/4 inches - 7 cm
Weight: 1.2 pounds - 522 gr
