Mallow Bowl - Pit Fired
This bowl was created with a mix of wild clays from Utah and from Duluth Minnesota. The collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete) then water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable.
Beautiful “cracked earth” texture on the outside but smooth on the inside.
White glaze inside and transparent glaze partly outside. Black comes from pit fire.
Hand build and encrusted with small quartz rocks from Colorado.
Fired at cone 03 (2014 °F – 1100 °C) using my electric kiln then pit fired in sagebrush wood.
Clean gently with a sponge inside right after using it.
Diameter: 4.25 inches – 10.5 cm
Height: 1.5 inches – 4 cm
Weight: 6.5 ounces - 186 gr
