Mojave Bowl 001
Inspired by the rugged textures of the environment, this medium-sized bowl features a warm, earthy glaze that transitions into a soft, reddish interior edge. The reddish hue was accentuated by Iron oxides (food safe glaze color) extracted from foraged ingredients in the desert.
The raw, uneven surface and speckled finish capture the essence of natural landscapes, making it an ideal piece for those who appreciate organic, unrefined beauty. Perfect for holding small servings
Created using a mix of local clay and clay mined in Southern California.
Glaze made from pine and oak ashes and white “chalk” foraged in the Mojave desert near Valyermo, California. Foraged and extracted Iron oxides.
Hand built and stone tools.
Fired at cone 6 (2200 °F – 1204 °C) using my electric kiln.
