Mushroom Bowl
Very rustic bowl shaped with stones. Recently I’ve created a few dishes and bowls using large rounded stone, a bit similar to the pestle of a stone mortar. Using this method, you can create subtle details in forms and textures which are impossible to reproduce using your hands or wheel.
The rustic bowl design works beautifully as a presentation dish for various (wild) ferments such as kimchi, fermented wild edibles, sauerkraut-types ferment and more.
Created using a mix of local clay and clay mined in Southern California.
Glaze made from pine and oak ashes and white “chalk” foraged in the Mojave desert.
Fired at cone 6 (2200 °F – 1204 °C) using my electric kiln.
Approximate dimensions:
Diameter: 6.5 inches – 16.5 cm
Height: 2 inches – 5 cm
Weight: 1 pound 7 oz (647 gr)
