Pine Needles Teapot and Cup
This small teapot and cup were created with a mix of wild clays from Utah and from Duluth Minnesota. The cup is made with local clay (Southern California). The collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete) then water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable.
White glaze inside and transparent glaze partly outside. Black color comes from pit firing.
Fired at cone 03 (2014 °F – 1100 °C) using my electric kiln. The teapot was also pit fired.
The teapot can be used but I think it’s a beautiful decorative piece. Don’t place the teapot over flames or stove.
Tested for waterproof. Lichen was added to create the top. Stone selected specifically for that pot from a local stream. Don’t make tea with the lichen.
