Storage Pot - Colorado/California Desert Clay

Storage Pot - Colorado/California Desert Clay

I used this pot to store wild grains (mostly oats). While in Colorado I also used it to store Russian olives.

Made with clay foraged near Boulder Colorado mixed with Mojave Desert Clay.  Glazed inside and partly glazed outside.  Not waterproof tested, I use it for storage of dried goods. Willow bark cordage collected from a fallen branch in the local mountains (Lyons).

This pot is handbuilt (Coil technique) - Subtle texture created by stones present in the unprocessed clay - mostly quartz. The collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete), water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable.

Fired at 2100 F using my portable electric kiln. This pot was fired twice.

Transparent and white glaze made with natural ingredients (Non-toxic)

Diameter: 4.5  inches - 11.5 cm

Height: 5.5 inches - 14 cm

Weight: 1 pound 9 ounces - 714 g
