Vinegar Making Vessel (Shipping in U.S. only)
Vinegar Making Vessel
I made this one last year, it’s one of the vessels I use to make some of my wildcrafted vinegars. This was part of my personal collection for several months and I made all sort of vinegars with it such as mugwort beer, elderberry wine, forest brew and wild currant wine vinegars.
Cloth dyed with pine cone ink leave the alcoholic content open to air (anaerobic fermentation) but prevents critters and other unwanted things to spoil the content.
Method explained in my book “Wildcrafted Vinegars”.
White glaze inside and transparent glaze outside.
Wild clay from Southern California (Valyermo). The collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete) then water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable.
Hand build – Mixed techniques: Pinched and coil
Fired 3 times at cone 03 (2014 °F – 1100 °C) using my electric kiln.
Diameter: 8 inches (20.5 cm)
Height: 8 inches (20.5 cm)
Weight: 3 pounds 9 ounces (1612 gr)
Don't forget to read the section about pottery care.
