Wild Mint Plate

Wild Mint Plate

So many wild mints in Southern California and they’re flowering right now.  I just placed one on this plate I made a couple of days ago. Clay is a mix of mountain dirt (Valyermo) and commercial clay.

Mixed techniques – wheel and hand build using stone tools.

Glaze made with Mojave desert chalk ground by hand using my molcajete (stone grinder). Chalk is mixed with local water, mugwort beer vinegar and xantham gum to make it easier to apply with a brush.

Fired at Cone 6 - 2200°F (1200°C) in my electric kiln.

Diameter: 7.25 Inches (18.5 cm)
Height: 2.25 inches (5.5 cm)
Weight: 11 ounces (309 gr)

Don't forget to read the section about pottery care.
