Wilder Stew Pot
I have several uses for this pot, last time I used it to shake some of the chia seeds pods and release the seeds but it’s also great to serve wild stews. The clay is a mix of clay from Minnesota collected on the shore of Lake Superior and local clay (Southern California) collected in the nearby hills. Primitive cordage (not twined) made of yucca fibers and a small piece of recycled scrub oak branch. The pot is not designed to be used over flames or a stove.
Beautiful texture created by stones present in the unprocessed clays. The collected clay is reduced into powder using my stone grinder (Molcajete) then water is added to reach the right consistency and make the clay workable.
Mixed techniques – Hand build and wheel. Glazed inside and partly glazed outside.
Fired twice at cone 03 (2014 °F – 1100 °C) using my electric kiln.
Transparent and white glaze made with natural ingredients (Non-toxic).
Diameter: 4 inches - 10 cm
