Desert teapot and cups
Desert teapot and cups
This Desert Teapot and Cups Set brings the spirit of the arid local desert landscape into a beautifully crafted form. The teapot, made from a mix of foraged clay and clay mined in Southern California echoes the rugged essence of the desert with its earthy ”sand” tones and rough surface. The handle, skillfully twined from Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) by artist Julia Han, adds a distinct, organic touch that connects the piece to the local Mojave desert flora. The cups, shaped to match the teapot’s rustic design, complete the set, making it perfect for serving a warm, grounding sage tea.
Wheel and stones tools.
Glaze made with Mojave desert chalk ground by hand using my molcajete (stone grinder) and pine/oak ashes.
