Mountain teapot and cups

Spent most of the afternoon in the forest yesterday, looking for the right stick to place on that teapot. It's so interesting that each teapot has its own personality and finding the right stick is so difficult. This smallish teapot is great for making wild mint or pine needles tea. Lovely texture created by the wild components used.

Mixed techniques - Wheel, hand build and stones tools.

Glaze made with Mojave desert chalk ground by hand using my molcajete (stone grinder). Chalk is mixed with local water, mugwort beer vinegar and xantham gum to make it easier to apply with a brush.

Handle made with recycled black oak deadwood and old wires found in the desert.

Clay is a mix of mountain dirt (Valyermo) and commercial clay. Both the teapot and cups are food safe.

Fired at Cone 6 - 2200°F (1200°C) in my electric kiln.
