Wild Arugula Bowl

 
This medium-sized bowl has a beautifully rough, natural texture that shows the raw quality of the clay. The surface has an uneven, earthy feel, with a subtle hint of white glaze in places. The simple, rounded shape and rugged look make it a perfect piece to serve a delicious wild food salad. 
 
Leak-tested. The textured surface requires extra care when hand-cleaning.
 
Created using a mix of local clay and clay mined in Southern California.
 
Glaze made from pine and oak ashes and white “chalk” foraged in the Mojave desert near Valyermo, California. 
 
Wheel and stone tools.
 
Fired at cone 6 (2200 °F – 1204 °C) using my electric kiln.
